Organisations that support CVE in Schools

The following national organisations have networks of Schools Workers who are available to support schools work in a variety of ways:

Additionally, the major denominations all make links with schools, while many individual congregations have youth workers who provide invaluable support to curricular and extra-curricular activities within the framework of Curriculum for Excellence:

Various Christian organisations devoted to development and aid are keen to work with schools. They also have specialist youth workers who are available for schools visits:

The Vine Trust has a Centre for Global Education in Leith, and has been organising overseas trips for schools since 2007. It also organises the highly respected Global Student Forum.


Various organisations operate Outdoor Learning Centres, which are widely used by schools as key parts of their annual curriculum. Residential and day activities include Environmental Education, P7-S1 Transition, Leadership courses, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, etc:

Fischy Music offers one-day visits to primary schools by its specialist schools workers. The health and wellbeing workshop schooldays help pupils think about strategies for dealing with challenging feelings and situations. Through singing, movement and discussion, children are encouraged to consider ways in which they can express and manage their thoughts and emotions. The visit consists of 3 x 45-minute workshops in the morning for up to 70 children in each workshop group and a whole-school concert in the afternoon to which parents can also be invited.

Fischy Music also offers CPD training events (equipping adults with the skills and confidence to use Fischy resources with children). Resources can also be purchased -- DVD resource packs + a subscription site, Songs for Life - with nearly 100 songs, videos, lesson plans etc -- for Health and Wellbeing, RME and Religious Observance.






FoolproofFoolproof Theatre in Schools offer a package of drama-based activities including a 20-minute  performance with associated 30-minute workshop, a full teachers’ pack containing curriculum links and ideas for further learning, thematic drama and storytelling workshops based around the performance, drama workshops using role-play and forum theatre and Religious Observance events using drama. All productions are written to work within Curriculum for Excellence.



OutOfTheBoxLogoOut of the Box offers Religious Observance assemblies and RME classes to Primary schools across the North of Scotland. Schools can choose from range of packages, involving puppetry, song, drama and other forms of creative arts. Some of these are free, while more complex and interactive ones are charged at £50. All schools packages work within the framework of Curriculum for Excellence, aiming especially to develop confident individuals and responsible citizens.

 Pop UK offers programmes of music and cultural activities to support Social, moral, spiritual and cultural learning through music.

Gideons International this long-established charity offers New Testaments to schools (generally for pupils at S1-2 stage). Trained speakers from Gideons visit schools and talk with the pupils (via an assembly or RME class), so that Bibles are given in a meaningful context.
