So you’re a teacher who’s got an opportunity to lead some RO Assemblies (a.k.a. Religious Observance or Time for Reflection). Where do you start?
There are just so many good ideas online – no matter how long you’ve been a teacher, there are bound to be approaches for involving and motivating children and young people which you haven’t come across. First stop: go to our Resources section and search under Assemblies/Religious Observance/Time for Reflection in the “Type of Activity” box
- For a good overview of Religious Observance look at http://www.syls.org.uk/get-started/a-time-to-reflect-or-religious-observance-ro.html
- The Schoolswork website has some good practical advice. It’s aimed primarily at Schools Workers/Youth Workers, but is still worth checking out: http://www.schoolswork.co.uk/ineedto/plan-an-assembly/P0/ - Do remember that it’s written for English schools (e.g. you’ll quickly spot references to “Acts of Worship” which we don’t have in Scottish schools.
